The  VOM Supervisor  works 200 days per year for 7.5 hours per day and earns $85,128 - $132,843 , depending on experience. 

As VOM supervisor with NIA, you will The Supervisor will support NIA and its customers' vision service providers by offering technical assistance, training, and supervision to teachers and/or orientation and mobility specialists. Additionally, the Supervisor will oversee the delivery of vision services and related programs within NIA customer districts and cooperatives. T his responsibility includes identifying students with visual impairments and supporting teachers in developing instructional programs and evaluating student progress.

VOM Job Duties:

  • Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating teachers for specialized programs.
  • Support IEP development and ensure proper placement for students with vision, orthopedic, and multiple disabilities.
  • Supervise and monitor teacher performance, compliance with IDEA, and program implementation.
  • Provide educational evaluations and assist in creating specialized curricula, adaptations, and goals aligned with state standards.
  • Coordinate with teachers, parents, and local agencies to address student needs and provide resources.
  • Maintain inventories, oversee program materials, and complete required reporting (e.g., Deafblind Registry).
  • Facilitate team meetings, staff development, and in-service training.
  • Act as a liaison between departments, districts, and external service providers.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to program improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to travel within the region.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Education and Licensure

1. Master’s Degree
