Job Description

The Atlanta Dream is a WNBA team based in Atlanta, Georgia. This year marks our 18th year in the league, and 2025 is our fourth year with new ownership, new leadership, and a commitment to building the best franchise in the WNBA. Position Overview: The Director, Community Impact position will collaborate with leaders across the organization to create programs and initiatives that ladder up to the Atlanta Dream’s community pillars. This position will be responsible for developing sustainable, community focused, sponsorable programs that align with the Atlanta Dream’s community pillars:

1. Empowering Girls and Women

2. Growing the Game of Basketball

3. Achieving Equity for All

Responsibilities:

· Create legacy programs that can make an impact on the local and national basketball community that are sponsorable and can be executed annually.

· Serve as a point of contact for sponsors’ community impact department to ensure alignment of community engagement goals.

· Manage and oversee the implementation of all social impact programs as well as conducting periodic program reviews to assess outcomes and effectiveness.

· Assist with the creation, implementation and ongoing management of the Atlanta Dream’s new community foundation.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for player appearances associated with the community impact department.

· Ensure effective engagement and integration of ownership, senior leadership, basketball personnel, players and associates into the vision and direction of the Dream intentional community impact strategy.

· Create meaningful employee volunteering and giving opportunities aligned with our mission.

· Work alongside the Sponsorship, Marketing, Digital content and Communications teams to originate and distribute compelling content that reinforces organizational values and mission.

· Stay informed, share best practices, and case studies and guide Dream organization and leadership within the area of social impact and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

· Manage social impact donation, programming and foundation budget and monitor spending to deliver results in line with planned objectives.

· Manage Community Activations full time and part time staff

Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements:

· A bachelor’s degree in a related field i.e. sports management, hospitality or marketing; master’s degree preferred.

· 7-10 years of previous experience within a similar role(s).

· Strong expertise in managing relationships, networks and teams that include a diverse group of people representative of the public and private sectors, community-based organizations, nonprofit and civic leadership, and program beneficiaries.

· Proven effectiveness in driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes and cross-team projects to desired results.

· Experience distilling complex and seemingly disparate (legacy) directives into aligned, meaningful, impactful community programs; goes hand in hand in rebuilding an organization with purpose at the center.

· Excellent communicator and storyteller – both written and verbal.

· Seek out, understand, and incorporate feedback from the underserved Atlanta communities we aim to serve.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to distill complex information into simple messages and concise communication materials, tailored for the audience.

· Hands-on approach as well as strong prioritization skills, ensuring that the team is working on the right things at the right time. They will be able to effectively balance a wide range of challenges, from short-term impact to long-term growth expectations.
